Who I Am

My name is Zak Conger. I was born and raised on the coast in Crescent City, CA. I am a Yurok Tribal Member and feel truly blessed to have grown up in one of the most miraculous places on Mother Earth. I have lived in the Rogue Valley since 2024. My truly better half, Kallie, and I will be celebrating 10 years together this summer. We have 3 wonderful small ‘fur babies’ that run the show more than I’d care to admit. But that’s okay, they’re the best. It’s 1000% indisputable. We’re all adapting very well to the climate and surroundings. Instead of ocean sunsets, I wake up early to take photos of mountain sunrises. Now, instead of waiting for a herd of elk to cross the road on my way to work, sometimes I slow down and wait for the wild turkeys to meander to the side of the road.

My story of resilience begins at birth. My fantastic parents adopted me as a toddler. I am happy to say that I have very fond core memories of attending speech therapy before grade school. As a child, I developed terribly aggressive Ulcerative Colitis, an autoimmune disorder. It was two years of fear, pain, surgeries, physical therapy, and a tremendous amount of love and support from SO many people. Thankfully, by High School, I had reached a semi-maintenance stage of my chronic health condition. I still suffer from symptoms/side effects, but can’t emphasize enough how much these experiences have positively shaped my life, habits, and routines..

After graduating High School in 2009, I attended University of the Pacific in Stockton, CA. By the end of 2015, I received my Bachelor’s in Psychology, Master’s Degree from Pacific University’s Professional School of Psychology, and was working back in Crescent City, CA as a Licensed Associate Professional Counselor for Del Norte County’s Behavioral Health Department. After 15 years of clinical experience within the mental health field, I’ve had the privilege of learning from dozens of colleagues. Many have become trusted friends & mentors. I’ve dedicated my career to the helping professions. While I’ve never officially held the title, advocate, I can’t stress enough that one of my most cultivated strengths as a professional within this field is client advocacy. I consider myself a forever learner, and continue to find ways to take on challenges that bring the most purpose and rewards.

Being a Mental Health Coach allows me to focus my services on areas that I am most passionate about, which are helping people build resilience and strengthen relationships of all kinds.

Our Philosophy

MRR incorporates core components of the BioPsychoSocial model into our coaching methods and structure to ensure a high fidelity service model driven by empirical evidence. Research and feedback are core principles that drive the why’s behind everything that we do. Client Testimonials are a key focus for 2026. Feedback is a gift, and it is a treasure that will not be left on the table.

MRR follows a multi-disciplinary Team (MDT) approach that values an inclusive spectrum of professionals to provide wrap-around support. Everyone should have access to quality mental health support within their chosen home communities. The unfortunate truth is that we’re experiencing the biggest mental health crisis on record. Unfortunately again… This problem is exacerbated within rural areas like Southern Oregon.
